Bio

Jerome is originally a native of the great northern state of Maine.  He holds a BA in both English and Theatre from The University of Southern Maine where he pursued interests in all aspects of the theatrical arts .  His senior year, his scenic design for a production of The Laramie Project, won the Region I American College Theatre Festival’s Barbizon Award in Scenic Design which allowed him to compete at the national festival as well as attend a week long master class taught by acclaimed scenographer, G.W. Mercier.  He also garnered numerous academic and artistic awards from the university and student groups for his work in sound design.

Jerome was very active in the vibrant theatre community of Portland, Maine during his studies and shortly after graduating.  He served as a technical director and scenic/sound designer for companies such as American Irish Repertory Ensemble, The Children’s Theatre of Maine and Two Lights Theatre ensemble, a small experimental non-profit theatre started by faculty and students who wished to pursue their own outside artistic endeavors in theatre, of which Jerome was a founding member and vice-president of the board.

Jerome attended graduate school at the University of Florida in Gainesville where he received his MFA in Theatrical Design.  He developed his scenic design skills working on department productions such as Rhinoceros , Crumbs from the Table of Joy, a steampunk/nouveau inspired production of The Rocky Horror Show, and a multi-venue multimedia dance production, MOD:Vote, where the audience could move between venues and decide through interactivity which performances would occur in various locations.

Florida Players, the student theatre group at The University of Florida was where Jerome experimented with live theatrical underscoring, composition and sound design using a wide array of digital technologies to add a rich and experimental nature to shows such as Bent, The Violet Hour, Marisol  and a darkly primal version of Macbeth.  Jerome culminated his studies at UF by producing, directing, designing and live underscoring a production of Ellen McLaughlin’s, Iphigenia and Other Daughters, a heart breaking modern adaption of ancient Greek tales.

Upon graduating from UF, Jerome became the Resident Designer and Technical Director of Lexington Children’s Theatre where he created over 50 designs in scenery, sound, projections and musical composition.  In addition to his design work he oversaw the scene shop and execution of production elements.  Some of his select works were scenic, sound and underscoring for The Neverending Story, Wiley and the Hairy Man, Oz and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  Scenic designs for Seussical: the Musical, Why Mosquitoes Buzz, Go Dog, Go!,  Annie and Click Clack Moo, among many others.  He continues to work with LCT as a freelance designer and composer.

Jerome worked with Woodford Theatre for their 25th Anniversary season as their Resident Scenic Designer.  In addition to his work at Woodford Theatre, Jerome has designed for StageOne Family Theatre in Louisvile for their production of The Glorious Adventures of Robin Hood, Actor’s Guild of Lexington, Bluegrass Community & Technical College (where he also teaches), and  The University of Kentucky.

Currently Jerome is designing and building Kentucky Conservatory Theatre's SummerFest productions of Twelfth Night and Little Shop of Horrors.
